10. Stir of Echoes (1999)
When a supernatural skeptic allows his wife’s sister to put him under a trance, he experiences haunting hallucinations of a missing teenage neighbor. Convinced that following these visions will lead to her, he begins a life-threatening and chilling ride.
9. The Witch (2015)
The Witch, set in 1630 New England, follows the story of a family that befalls tragedy when their youngest son vanishes at the mouth of the woods. The family’s devout religious beliefs and loyalty to one another are tested when they suspected their daughter, Thomasin, practices witchcraft and was at fault for the disappearance.

After an innocent sexual encounter, a young teen finds herself infected with a mysterious curse—an unknown and murderous force is following her, and she must battle her morality to pass the curse on to another innocent victim to change its course.
7. The Mist (2007)
Based off a Stephan King novel, The Mist is set in a quiet town that is mysteriously engulfed in a thick fog. Trapped inside a grocery store, a young father and his son, along with several other people from the town are terrorized by deadly creatures revealing themselves from the mist. Terror exists inside the store as well when a religious woman goes mad and demands sacrifice.

New girl, Sarah is finding it hard to fit in at her new high school in Los Angeles. When three fellow wannabe witches sense Sarah has nascent supernatural powers, they quickly become a coven. After one of their low stakes spells works, the dangerous chase of power begins to tear them apart.

Set in 1940’s war-torn Spain, a young girl encounters the mythical faun Pan in an ancient maze. The creature convinces her that she is a lost princess and must survive three dangerous tasks to gain immortality and her forgotten throne.

This movie had audiences both mystified and terrified. The Babadook centers on a grieving widow and her young son. After finding an ominous and rather grisly children’s book, the horror creeps off the page and into their lives.

Shot with using DIY techniques and an amateur cast, the supernatural horrors of the Blair Witch legend felt far too real for audiences that mistook it as actual found footage after its release.
